Engagement Party

Getting engaged is one of the happiest moments of your life and a cause for celebration. For such a big life moment, close friends and family members will want to join in on the celebration. Having an engagement party is a wonderful way to share the good news and joy with those who are close to you and your fiance. Engagement parties are typically hosted by the bride’s or groom’s parents and take place within 2 to 10 weeks after the engagement. Hosting the party in someone’s home is a great setting for allowing friends and family to show their enthusiasm and happiness for you. Keep the guest list on the small side to maintain an intimate atmosphere, and all who are invited should also be invited to the wedding.

Bridal Shower / Couples’ Shower

The bridal shower often occurs closer to the date of the wedding, around three to twelve weeks prior, and consists of bridesmaids and female friends in a celebration to honor the bride. The host of the bridal shower is usually a member of the wedding party, such as the maid of honor, but parents or other close relatives or friends can also take on the hosting duties. Fun games, gifts, and a meal are what’s in store for this event. Lately, though, younger couples are sharing the shower and both engage in the fun pre-wedding activities with a mixed crowd.

Bachelor & Bachelorette Party

Bachelor and bachelorette parties celebrate the last few days of singledom before getting hitched. It’s also a fun way to bond with close friends and take a break from wedding planning. These parties have grown beyond a night of consuming multiple drinks in a bar, to events that include spa treatments, going to a live concert or sporting event, or even traveling to a destination. Bachelor/Bachelorette parties are usually held a month or two before the wedding date and hosted by members of the wedding party. Anyone invited to a bachelor or bachelorette party should also be invited to the wedding.

Bridesmaid Luncheon

This event came about as a way to show your appreciation for the time, money, and effort your bridesmaids put in to make sure your wedding goes off smoothly.  The luncheon typically takes place a day or two prior to the wedding in a restaurant that is intimate yet relaxing so that everyone can have a fun, stress-free time. The bride usually hosts this event and can invite flower girls, mothers of the bride and groom, or any other close female relative not in the bridal party. All luncheon guests should also be invited to the wedding.

Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner takes place on the eve of the wedding, usually after the wedding rehearsal. Often held in a large banquet hall or private room at a restaurant, depending on the number of attendees. Guests include close family members, friends, and members of the bridal party – all of whom have also been invited to the wedding  The groom’s family or the bride and groom typically host this event.
